To protect Aadhaar from security breaches, UIDAI has introduced an option on its official website to allow people to see their Aadhaar usage history.
The option allows citizens to know when the biometric data was used. This update comes days after Bharati Airtel allegedly opened payment bank accounts without informing customers that they had used Aadhaar to verify their SIM cards.
According to a UIDAI official, “This feature allows you to have a record of the authentications performed by you, it will not let you know where and who obtained your authorized information, but it will tell you when the authentication was performed.”
To access the information, you must visit https://uidai.gov.in/ and click on the Aadhaar authentication history link. Then you must enter the 16-digit Aadhaar number and the security code. After entering the OTP, the user must specify the type of authentication and send the data query.
